How Do I Remove the Front Speaker Grill on a Seeburg AY100?

Although jukeboxes today have been sized down to work on CD format, there was a time not so long ago when jukeboxes that played 45-RPM records were in almost every local teen hangout. The Seeburg AY100 is a vintage jukebox that was manufactured in the early 1960s. The AY100 stored and played 100 45-RPM records. The speakers on the AY100 are housed inside the lower front section of the jukebox and are covered by a front grill. To service or repair the speakers, this front grill must be removed. This is a simple operation.

Instructions

    • 1

Unplug the jukebox from the electric wall socket to avoid electrical shock during the process.

    • 2

Locate the four screws in each corner of the jukebox's grill, which is located at the bottom of the jukebox front. Insert a Phillips screwdriver into each screw and remove them. Set the screws to the side where they will not get lost.

    • 3

Slip two flat-head screwdrivers, or a putty knife and a screwdriver into the space on each side between the grill and the jukebox frame. Gently pry the grill forward from the frame and then remove it.

    • 4

Replace the grill by fitting it back into the frame and screwing the screws back into their slots.
