How to Apply a Bird Wing Badge

A badge is usually used to represent a feat or challenge that has been achieved, but badges can also be solely for decoration. Often, they are used for both. Bird wing badges, also known as aviation badges, are given to aviators in the military or in the airline or piloting business to show a certain level of achievement and most likely have a pair of outstretched bird wings, which represent flight. Wearing of bird wing badges is done most like other badges, in that they mostly have the same fastening mechanics.

Instructions

    • 1

Determine where the pin is going to be set. Pins are usually placed on the shirt above the left or right breast, on the tip of a collar and on hats. Be sure the chosen material is soft enough to be penetrated by a pin.

    • 2

Remove the pin from its clasp and hold the badge in position above the material to make sure it is even. Carefully pierce and penetrate the material with the pin, going into and under the cloth, then make push it up out of the cloth. This is basically a stitch made with no thread.

    • 3

Secure the pin back in place with the clasp. Straighten and adjust the badge so it sits comfortably and doesn't look awkward. If it is crooked, remove the pin from the cloth and repeat Step 2.
