How to Display Cub Scout Memorabilia

Boys participate in the Cub Scouts before moving on to become a Boy Scout. Boys ages 7 to 11 participate in a range of organized activities that include camping and outdoor skills, civic responsibility and other educational activities. Using Rudyard Kipling's "The Jungle Book" as a framework for creating the Cub Scouts, Robert Baden-Powell originated the Cub organization in the early 1900s. The uniform insignia and other memorabilia are keepsakes of childhood years for many.

Instructions

    • 1

Select a shadowbox that is large enough to display the Cub Scout memorabilia you have. Choose a natural wood, stained or painted box frame based on personal preference. Select a black box, for example, that is subdued and directs the focal point of the display onto the Cub Scout items.

    • 2

Place the shadowbox on a flat work surface. Position the box with the glass down and the back of the box facing up. Remove the back of the box by moving or removing the clips that hold the back in place. Use a screwdriver, if necessary, to remove the back.

    • 3

Cover the inside of the shadowbox back with a piece of fabric or paper. Choose a material or decorative paper that will enhance the appearance of the Scout memorabilia. Select, for example, a piece of black material or paper or use a print that features the Cub Scout logo in the traditional yellow and blue colors.

    • 4

Cut the fabric or paper to size and glue it to the inside of the shadowbox back with hot glue. Allow the glue to cool and set before handling the covered back.

    • 5

Place the covered back on the work surface with the covered side up. Arrange Cub Scout memorabilia such as patches, knives, craft items and pictures. Arrange items so they are visually appealing. Consider layering items for a unique appearance.

    • 6

Glue the memorabilia in place with the hot glue gun. Allow the glue to cool and set completely before adding the next item.

    • 7

Place the back of the shadowbox, with the items attached, on the frame of the shadowbox. Secure the back to the shadowbox frame with the attached clips and a screwdriver, if necessary.
