How to Store Autographed Magazines

Getting an autograph can be pretty exciting and making sure nothing happens to your autographed magazines is your next step. The key to storing any sort of paper product is to store it in something that is acid-free. This ensures your autograph will stay for as long as possible. Keeping as much air from your magazines can also help them last longer. When preparing magazines for storage, do so on a clean, dry surface.

Instructions

    • 1

Place a piece of acid-free paper between the cover and first page. Put another piece of acid-free paper between the back cover and back page. Cut the paper to fit inside the magazine, if necessary.

    • 2

Put the entire magazine into an archival plastic bag. These bags are acid-free and will keep your magazines as well as the autographs more intact for longer periods of time.

    • 3

Seal each plastic bag to keep air from touching the magazine.

    • 4

Place the magazines flat into an archival, acid-free plastic box with a lid. Alternate the magazines so that each spine is opposite of the one below it. You don't want to stack the magazines too high, to where you are crushing the magazines at the bottom of the stack. Larger magazines go on the bottom while smaller magazines go on top.

    • 5

Store the magazines in a cool dark place away from heat and moisture.
