Convenient Inventions

There is no denying that certain inventions have made life convenient indeed. Some of these inventions have completely metamorphosed from how they looked when they were first invented into more complex entities. However, the people who were the spark of light behind these inventions will always be attributed as being the pioneers of the inventions.
  1. Electricity

    • The invention of the light bulb is in many ways responsible for the Western world's 27/7 economy.

The light bulb is a convenient invention that has helped illuminate our world. It has made it possible for a fast-paced life to continue after dark. Hospitals are brightly lit and surgeons in the operating room can see clearly to perform intricate surgeries and save lives. The light bulb is used to light the streets after dark, dispelling the gloom and making it safer by removing dark spots where criminals would normally lurk. The light bulb has simply made life more convenient by lighting up the hours after dark. It was invented by Thomas Edison in 1879. He obtained a patent for it in 1880. Prior to Edison's invention, people depended mainly on gas lighting to see at night.

    Internet

    • The Internet is a major tool for communication, work, research, learning and entertainment. The Internet is used to do so many things, such as conduct research, read or watch news from all over the world, and to chat with friends or make new friends. The Internet can be used for marketing products and services and for paying bills. You can also watch movies, post home movies and play games. The World Wide Web as we know it was created by Timothy Berners-Lee, an English scientist, in 1989.

    Personal Computers

    • Computers are so commonplace now that people tend to take them for granted. We rely on them for both individual and business concerns. However, the personal computer was invented late in the 20th century. The first desktop computer was manufactured for personal use in 1974 by Micro Instrumentation Telemetry Systems (MITS). This led to the development of a host of similar machines. Eventually, Apple Computer, Inc. developed Apple I, and Apple II. Other companies such as IBM soon joined in, and clearly, it is still an ongoing process as most of the companies are still competing to produce newer models of computers with better features.

    Telephone

    • The telephone is practically indispensable in the modern world. It has made life convenient by making it easy to communicate with people across vast distances. Practically everyone has a phone and uses it on a daily basis to not only make phone calls, but to surf the web, send emails, text messages, take pictures and make videos. The telephone has evolved to the point where it is now a mini-computer with other uses than just making phone calls. One interesting fact about the invention of the telephone is that two inventors, Elisha Gray and Alexander Graham Bell, both filed for patents for the invention of the telephone, with Bell beating out Gray by a mere two hours.
