How to Print QSL Cards

If you are involved in amateur radio, you have probably talked to someone else in amateur radio in another part of the world. As part of that contact, many amateurs request and send QSL cards to their colleagues. Collecting QSL cards may be a way of meeting a personal goal, meeting a requirement set by an amateur radio club or to earn an award. Be ready to send your own QSL card when you request yours from your contact by printing a supply of cards using your home computer.

Instructions

    • 1

Open your word processing software to a new document. Go to the "Page Layout" or "Page Format" tab, depending on your software, and adjust the page margins to the smallest possible setting.

    • 2

Look for the card dimensions on your pack of business card paper. Click on the "Table" or "Insert" tab and insert a new table into your document. Size the cells of the table to the dimensions of your business cards. Add as many cells to your document as there are cards on your paper. This will usually be eight cells.

    • 3

Type your QSL information into the first cell. Be sure to type your call sign first, making it prominent with a large, colored font, if you choose. Follow the call sign with your name and address, including country.

    • 4

Add a place to write contact information toward the bottom of the card. It's up to you whether you want this to be on the left, center or right side of the card. For each item, type the name then leave space to the right or beneath the name to write the contact information. The items you need in this section are: the call name of the station you contacted, the date, the time in UTC, the frequency or band, the mode and RST.

Add an image to your card. This can be a call station image or your photo. Select "Insert" and "Image" or "Picture" from your menu toolbar. Locate and click your desired picture from your computer. Align the picture behind the text. Copy and paste the text of your first cell to the rest of the cells in your document. Save your work.

Load your paper into your printer. Be sure your printer preferences are set for color if you are printing in color, and to the correct paper type. Print as many copies of your cards as you think you will need.
