Authentication
Any signed baseball needs to be authenticated by sports memorabilia authenticators to give it maximum value. Professional Sports Authenticator (PSA) and James Spence Authentic (JSA) are two trusted memorabilia authenticators.
Year
If Mantle signed your ball and added the year it may be worth more. Any ball from the historic 1961 campaign, when Mantle and teammate Roger Maris were chasing Babe Ruth's single season home run record, will be worth more than other signed balls.
Auctions
The price of signed baseballs fluctuates because the value is based on what they fetch at auction.
League
A signature on an official ball from the league Mantle played in will be worth more.
Ruth, Mantle and Maris
On June 28th, 2008, popular PBS show "Antique Roadshow" appraised a baseball signed by Babe Ruth in 1931 and both Mickey Mantle and Roger Maris in 1961 to be worth between $30,000 and $50,000.
