How to Wear a German Helmet

German helmets are designed to protect your from hurting your head when you're on a battlefield. Though helmet styles have changed over the years, the proper way to wear a helmet has remained the same. Keeping the helmet correctly situated and secured to your head reduces your chances of injury by improving the effectiveness of the helmet. While many people wear their helmets incorrectly, you should take the time to wear it for maximum protection.

Instructions

    • 1

Place the helmet on your head so the lip that rests higher is over your eyes, while the lip that dips down is over the back of your head. This extended lip is meant to protect the vulnerable spot at the bottom of your skull and the top of your neck.

    • 2

Adjust the helmet's situation so the lip over your eyes is parallel to the ground. Though it may be more comfortable to tilt the helmet up so you have a better range of vision, this is the incorrect way to wear a helmet.

    • 3

Pull the chinstrap under your chin so it almost touches your neck but doesn't make contact. Secure it to the fastener on the other side of your helmet, near your ear.

    • 4

Leave the goggles above the lip that protects your eyes until you need them.

    • 5

Keep your German helmet on anytime you may be in danger of being hit in the head.
