Instructions
Determine the size of your project. Lay out the jersey that you want to frame. If your jersey has sleeves, you may want to fold the sleeves over so that any designs or emblems on the sleeves can still be seen. If your jersey is extra long, fold under the bottom portion of the jersey. Use double-sided adhesive tape to hold the fabric you have folded in place.
Construct the case. Use a ruler and pencil to measure your board to size. You should have four pieces of wood that are equal in size to the sides of a picture frame. Use your table saw equipped with a miter box to cut the pieces at a 45-degree angle. Nail the pieces together to form a box that is the same size as your picture frame. Place two nails in the corner of each joint.
Finish constructing your display case by nailing the case to the wooden frame. Place one nail in each corner and in the middle of each edge, if your frame is excessively large. Sand down the entire display case with sandpaper.
Prime your display case using a medium-sized paintbrush to uniformly apply the primer. Allow the primer to dry for 24 hours before moving on. Rinse your brush thoroughly. Apply the desired paint color to the display case. Allow the paint to fully dry before finishing the display case.
Prepare the display. Cut a plywood sheet into a square that measures the same size as the case you constructed earlier. Wrap the plywood square with velvet, using your staple gun to attach the velvet to the back of the plywood. Affix your jersey to the velvet background using double-sided adhesive tape.
Glue the picture frame glass in place. Use your glue gun to place a small line of hot glue along the inside edges of the picture frame. Press the glass down onto the glue to secure it in place.
Attach the plywood display square to the back of your display case using the staple gun. Staple along all of the edges to completely seal the display case. Affix the picture hangers to the back of your display case, then hang it on the wall.
