Check for the Hartland Hang Tag. Each sports statue that Hartland produces will come with a tag that hangs from it. The only statue ever to be produced without a hang tag was the original Roger Marris. The hang tag will have information on it relating to the statue. It will give background on the team the player was playing for at the time of production as well as the year.
Look for a certificate of authenticity. Each original piece of Hartland memorabilia will come with a certificate that will authenticate its origins. The certificate of authenticity will include information on the dimensions of the statue, when and where it was made, and the statue's exact title. If a statue does not have a certificate of authenticity, then it may be a replica. Certificates of authenticity have been used on Hartland Sports statues since 1958.
Identify the number of the Hartland Sports Statue. All Hartland statues are produced in a pre-determined quantity and are numbered accordingly. Each statue will have a unique number. There will never be two Hartland Sports statues with identical numbers. Check that your statue has a number and ensure that it is unique by checking the numbers of statues of other collectors. In many cases, Hartland produces a very low number of one type of statue. The low number produced makes the number easier to track.
