Things You'll Need
Instructions
Lay your jersey on a flat surface and fold it exactly the way you want it to be in the frame. Secure the sleeves, if they are folded, in position with double-sided tape.
Measure the outside edges of the jersey and add at least 1 inch all around. This is the measurement of the inner opening of your framing matte.
Purchase pre-cut mattes at a craft or framing store--one to go behind the jersey and one to frame it within the larger frame. Pre-cut mattes come in many colors and some inner mattes have a contrasting inside edge that is very attractive.
Purchase a deep acrylic or Plexiglas box frame that will fit your backing matte. Also, get a piece of foam core the same size as your backing matte--no more than 1/4-inch thick.
Take the box frame apart. Carefully turn your jersey face down and attach double-sided tape to the back. Use enough to hold it securely to the backing matte. Center the jersey on the backing matte and press down on it so that it will stick. If you never intend to un-frame the jersey, you can also use spray-on fabric adhesive.
Place the inner matte over the jersey, lining its corners up with the backing matte. Secure the mattes together at the corners with double-sided tape.
Place the backing matte onto the foam core and secure it with double-sided tape. Place the matted jersey in the box frame and reassemble the frame according to the manufacturer̵7;s instructions. Some frames come apart with screws, some with clips and others just snap together. Make sure everything fits securely. Your framed jersey is ready to hang.
