Animation Art and Lithographs
Animation and Disney fans alike collect animation art and lithographs through independent dealers and shops such as The Art of Disney at Disneyland, Walt Disney World, and The World of Disney in New York City. Consisting of both animation cels featuring popular Disney characters as well as numbered lithographs, these collectibles are often used as hanging art in the homes of collectors.
Theme Park Collectibles
Disney theme park collectibles range from promotional items such as park maps and brochures to attraction-specific collectibles. Among some of the most sought-after theme park collectibles are vintage items promoting popular attractions such as the Haunted Mansion, and promotional items for attractions that have since been removed from the parks.
Toys
Collectible Disney toys range from those currently on the market to the vintage toys manufactured more than 40 years ago. Some of the most valued Disney toys are those produced during the 20s and 30s at the height of Mickey Mouse's popularity. Among those most coveted by fans are the original Mickey Mouse dolls produced by Charlotte Clark, which now carry an asking price of around $17,500.
WDCC
WDCC is short for Walt Disney Classics Collection. This collection of animation sculptures features the many characters of Disney animation as designed and sculpted by Disney Studio artists and animators. Each sculpture is offered through retailers for a limited time until it is retired. Every year, WDCC introduces new figures to the collection depicting various characters from Disney animation history.
Disney Pins
A relatively new phenomenon, Disney pin trading has become a favored pastime of Disney collectors. While Disney Parks have offered collectible pins from the start, the phenomenon known as "Disney Pin Trading" only began in 1999. Since then, Disney has released thousands of distinctive pins through the program. Pins commemorate favorite characters, movies, theme park attractions and special events. Disney Parks often hold special events celebrating the release of a new pin.
