How Much Is the First I Love Lucy Doll Worth?

Many dolls depicting Lucy Ricardo from the popular 1950s series "I Love Lucy" have been created over the years. One of the most popular doll sets for collectors is the Mattel "I Love Lucy" Barbie series.

    • Mattel issued the first "I Love Lucy" Barbie doll in 1997. Over the past 15 years, more than 15 dolls have been issued, featuring scenes from some of the classic episodes of "I Love Lucy."

    Significance

    • The first "I Love Lucy" Mattel doll features Lucy Ricardo in the 1952 eipsode "Lucy Does A TV Commercial." In this episode, Lucy must sell a product called Vitameatavegamin during one of Ricky's television performances.

    Misconceptions

    • A Barbie doll released in November 2008 featuring Lucille Ball, not Lucy Ricardo was issued. This doll is not a part of the "I Love Lucy" series, but is the first doll in the new Lucille Ball Barbie series.

    • For the best price, the doll should still be in it's original box. The box should also show little to no wear to maintain mint condition.

    • In 2009, the Vitameatavegamin Barbie doll was worth $55 to $95, depending on its condition. Prices are significantly lower for a doll not in its original box.
