Simple Straight Row For Packaged Action Figures
Measure the action figure packages and decide how much space, if any, you'd like between each package. Most action figure packages will hang from a hole punched in the top-center of the package. You will add half the width of the package to the amount of extra space you want on one side of the package. For example, if each action figure package is 6 inches wide and you would like a 1-inch space between each package, you want to measure 4 inches between each tack.
Push a thumbtack into the wall where you want the left-most action figure to hang. Measure the distance between the ceiling and the tack or between the floor and the tack. Push a second tack into the wall where you want the right-most action figure to hang. Use the measurement acquired in Step 2 to ensure that the both tacks are at the same height.
Tie one end of a long piece of string to each tack, creating a level line from the first tack to the second tack. This will be a reference as you add tacks.
Measure along the string, from the first tack towards the second tack, the distance established in Step 1 and push a tack into the wall. Continue working along the string, placing tacks along the string at the desired hanging location for each action figure package.
Remove the string and hang the action figure packages from the tacks.
Easy Method For Unpackaged Action Figures
Decide where you want the action figure to hang and hold the figure against the wall.
Mark the joint lightly between each shoulder and the head of the figure and the joint between the legs of the figure with a pencil. If the figure does not have separate legs or a well-defined head, look for similar joints or notches; the important part is to have one mark at the bottom of the figure and one mark near the top of each side of the figure.
Hold the action figure in place and push a thumbtack into the wall at each mark. If the figure slides or is dropped, use the pencil marks to realign the figure against the wall. The tack on the bottom of the figure will keep the figure balanced and the tacks to the side of the figure's head will keep the figure from falling side to side.
