Things You'll Need
Instructions
Check the newspaper classifieds for vintage snow sleds for sale. If you do not live in an area that gets much snow, consider taking a subscription to a paper in a city that does but is still close enough that you can pick up the sled. Shipping can be expensive on an item of that size, so pickup is usually a better option.
Visit local thrift and second-hand stores. While you may not find a collectible vintage sled on every trip you make, when you do find one you will likely be rewarded with a low price tag. Consider leaving your contact information with the manager of the store so she can contact you if a vintage snow sled comes in.
Look in the newspaper for local estate sales or estate sales in nearby cities that get more snow. If there is a phone number in the advertisement for inquiries about merchandise, call and let them know what you are looking for before making the trip. If there is no phone number, look for words in the listing that may lead you toward vintage snow sleds, such as "snow equipment" or "outdoor sporting equipment." Always arrive as early as possible for an estate sale so you get a chance to see all of the items for sale before they're gone.
Contact local antique dealers and let them know you are looking for vintage snow sleds. Antique dealers routinely keep customer databases, and they will probably be more than happy to contact you if they get anything in that might be your liking.
