How to Sell Your Beanie Babies

Beanie Babies were all the rage at one time. To some people, they still are. They are cute, individualistic, and there are some, such as the Princess Diana bear, that have meaning.

Instructions

    • 1

Figure out which Beanie Babies you want to sell. There may be some that you want to keep. Separate the two piles and place the "keeper" pile in another room, or at least out of sight. Right now, we will concentrate on the ones you wish to sell.

    • 2

Look up each Beanie Baby on the Internet and in the most current copy of the Beanie Baby price list book you have. Figure out not only what you feel people are willing to pay; but also what you are willing to settle for. In some instances, you may have to, or want to, haggle over a price.

    • 3

In your accounting notebook, list each Beanie Baby separately and then in the first of two columns list the fair market value from the book. In the second column list the fair market value from the internet. In the third column, list the actual condition of the Beanie Baby. Be precise as you will have to describe the condition if you do online auctions.

    • 4

You do not want to have to worry about the condition of the Beanie Babies at this point. It would be best to place the Beanie Babies separately in plastic wrap or a plastic bag. You can then place the price of the Beanie Babies on the little stickers on the plastic along with the name and other information of the Beanie Baby itself. Should the Beanie Babies already be in a container of some sort, it might be alright to let them remain in that container and put the pricing on it.

    • 5

Decide where you would like to sell your Beanie Babies. Do you want to sell them on an online auction? Do you want to sell them at a collectible show? Would you like to sell them at a flea market? If you sell them in person, you will need at least a table for display and a chair to sit in. A colorful tablecloth will serve to call attention to your table, as well as hide any boxes beneath it.

If you decide to sell on an auction house online, you should look at selling prices, the fees for selling and compare the two with at least three auctionhouses. You will want to get the best price for your Beanie Babies.

As you sell each Beanie Baby, be sure to write down the price you sold it for in another column in your accounting notebook. You will need to know specifics when it comes time to do your taxes and other accounting work.
