How to Bind a Comic Book at Home

Comic book aficionados can have thousands of bagged and boarded books. They are safe but unreadable. With comic book binding, you can create your own graphic novels. Printers offer binding services but turn-around time and shipping costs are problematic. It is better to bind your own comics at home with a thermal binding machine.

  • Thermal binding machine
  • Hobby knife
  • Flat-head screwdriver
  • Clear thermal presentation covers

      Open your comic and place it face up on the cutting board. Turn it over and use a small flat-head screwdriver to remove the staples.

      Place the cover on the cutting board. Cut down the crease from top to bottom. Repeat for each page. Most fans bind a complete story arc instead of a single issue. You can bind up to 300 sheets.

      Assemble the cut sheets. Flip through the comic to review the page order.

      Turn on the thermal binding machine. When ready, the binding machine will beep and the power light will turn green.

      Place the comic pages inside the clear thermal cover. It's inside border has adhesive glue. Open the document clap and insert your comic.

      Press "Select/OK" to start the binding process. The machine will beep when finished. Remove your bound comic and place it on the cooling tray.
