Where Was Planet Krypton in Superman Saga?

The tragic story of the destruction of Superman's home planet, Krypton, is familiar even to those who aren't fans of the classic comic book saga. The actual location of Krypton before its untimely demise is a matter of some dispute among Superman enthusiasts. There are a few different answers to the question, as well as a few complications that make a definitive answer highly contentious.
  1. Krypton

    • After the "Crisis on Infinite Earth" series in which various parallel dimensions of the DC superhero multi-verse were destroyed, Krypton's location was given as somewhere within the Milky Way Galaxy. Briefly, however, the Superman Saga revised its estimates and placed Krypton in another galaxy altogether. The current comics era places the Man of Steel's home planet in a star system adjacent to the solar system. The Green Lantern corps, a kind of superhero police force for the universe, mention that the planet Earth is in sector 2814, while Krypton is in 2813.

    Kandor

    • In the Superman Saga, Kandor was once the capital city of the planet Krypton but was shrunk to miniature size, placed in a bottle and stolen by the evil Brainiac. Despite the destruction of Krypton, this piece of Superman's home remains in existence and routinely emerges in various locations including parallel dimensions or Lex Luthor's laboratory.

    Argo City

    • Argo City survived the destruction of Krypton and spent around 15 years drifting through space on a kryptonite asteroid. The inhabitants of the city would have been killed by the kryptonite surface, but their city was protected by a large lead dome which kept the radiation at bay. Eventually, however, a meteorite struck the dome and the inhabitants died, but not before Zor-El had sent his daughter down to earth to her cousin Superman.

    Parallel Dimensions

    • In various other universes, Krypton had a different location before it exploded. For example, the universe of Earth-Two contains all the "Golden Age" superheroes, i.e. the DC cast of characters as they appeared when they were first invented in the 1940s and '50s. Krypton's location was unspecified in the Golden Age so presumably this is true of the Earth-Two universe also.
