Follow Comic-Con news as early as possible -- even a year or more in advance. Join Comic-Con pages on social media platforms to get all of the latest news on the convention, including what days tickets will go on sale. If you fail to keep up with the news, you can miss the day the tickets go on sale and miss out on your best chance to secure a ticket.
Devote time on the sale date to securing a ticket. In 2011, many people who attempted to secure Comic-Con tickets even before they sold out were unable to do so, because the demand for tickets was so great. If you don't devote the day -- or at least a few hours -- to trying to get tickets, you will significantly decrease your chances of being successful. Get your computer or Internet-capable phone ready at least ten minutes before the tickets are projected to go on sale, and work fast until you secure a ticket.
Check back on resale day. If you follow Comic-Con news, you should be informed about the potential of another day when tickets will go on sale much closer to the convention, usually in June or July. These tickets become available at this time due to returned tickets, after the initial sale date. Be aware that there will be far fewer tickets available at this time, but it is your best chance for a ticket, if you missed out on tickets on the original day of sale.
Invest in a hotel/ticket package. Some tickets are set aside exclusively for those who are willing to pay extra to reserve lodging at hotels that are in partnership with Comic-Con. These ticket packages may even go on sale as late as a few weeks or months before the convention. Keep an eye out for news about these packages.
