How to Put Comic Boxes Together

One thing that plagues many comic book collectors is storage. Comic books, though relatively thin and flat, tend to take up a lot of room, especially when you're amassing hundreds of them every year. You can minimize the amount of space your collection takes up and protect your comics by storing them in a comic box.

A comic box consists of two pieces: the body and the lid. Each piece must be folded and assembled before you can use the box. The assembly process does not require special tools.

Instructions

    • 1

Unfold and lay the box sideways on a table.

    • 2

Fold the long flap without the attached short flaps into the box interior.

    • 3

Fold both short flaps (attached to the unfolded long flap) in toward each other.

    • 4

Fold the long flap in toward the box interior.

    • 5

Set the box upright on the table with the open end facing up.

    • 6

Reach into the box and pull the visible long flap into the comic box interior, so it rests against the side of the box.

    • 7

Pull the two short flaps into the comic box interior, so they rest against the front and back ends of the box.

    • 8

Push the long flap from step 6 back down to form the bottom of the box. Assembly of the box body is complete.

    • 9

Place the lid on the table with the white side facing down.

    • 10

Fold the long flaps in. Fold the two short flaps attached to each long flap inward at a 90 degree angle.

    • 11

Fold the remaining front and back flaps in and over the short flaps. Lock the front and back flaps into place by inserting the ends into the notches in the lid.
