Instructions
Buy a backing board for each one of your comic books to keep them from wrinkling or buckling when stored upright. Keep them vertical since stacking them horizontally may weaken or destroy the bindings over time. (See Resources)
Store each issue and its corresponding backing board in a clear plastic sleeve that will reduce scratches, bent pages and wrinkles. The sleeves will also keep dust out and temporarily protect the paper from accidental spills. (See Resources)
Stash larger collections in sturdy boxes with strong lids that also make them stackable. Consider adding a label or a detailed list of the comic books and issue numbers to the front so you won't have to open and shut the boxes repeatedly to find what you need. Create divider tabs from acid-free card stock to organize the different types within each box. (See Resources)
Consider buying two copies of your favorite issues or those that you know will become collector's items. Store one in a safe place and frame the other to display on a bookshelf or wall. (See Resources)
Keep your comic books in a cool, dry place out of direct sunlight. Ensure whatever sleeves, backing boards or boxes that you use are acid-free and archival safe to slow fading or deterioration of the pages.
