After leaving Mad Magazine, which he created for EC Comics, Kurtzman met up with Hugh Hefner, who conceived the idea of Little Annie Fanny. With his blessing, Harvey Kurtzman, along with Will Elder, one of Mad Magazine's greatest cartoonists, collaborated on producing the cartoon named as a satiric salute to Little Orphan Annie and poked fun at both modern society and Playboy's own cartoons.
