If you have a model or modern replica of a percussion rifle, consult your owner's manual to find the exact location of the serial number on your rifle.
If your rifle is an antique, use the magnifying glass to inspect your gun for a possible serial number and manufacturer's or inspector's stamp. If you cannot locate the serial number on your own, contact a gun dealer to assist you.
Once you have located the serial number, look your rifle up on the website proofhouse.com. This site will you help identify a gun's year by serial number and other markings.
If you cannot locate a serial number on an antique rifle, use the flashlight for any identifying marks or the manufacturer's name. Then contact the manufacturer directly regarding your firearm.
