How to Remove a Breech Plug From Knight Shadow

Muzzleloading refers to black powder weapons that have the gun powder and then the rounds loaded, rather than powder, cap and bullet all coming in a single piece. A challenge for hunters, and a way of life for re-enactors, not all muzzleloaders are archaic weapons. Many of them, like the Knight Shadow, are modern weapons with modern shooters in mind. However, removing the breech plug can still be a bit of a pain, even with a break-open weapon.

Instructions

    • 1

Check the weapon to be sure that it is unloaded and safe to handle. All guns need to be safely unloaded, with the rounds removed, before you ever attempt cleaning and disassembly.

    • 2

Open the Knight Shadow's break. Press the level and push down on the barrel while holding the stock firmly. The breech will rotate on hinges, breaking open in a way similar to a double-barreled shotgun.

    • 3

Unscrew the breech with the provided breech plug removal tool. Turn the plug counterclockwise, loosening it out of the gun. The breech plug is on a simple screw, and once removed you have access to both ends of your Knight Shadow's barrel.
