How to Set the Eye Relief on a Leupold Gold Ring Scope

Leupold Gold-Ring scopes are spotting scopes designed for long-range viewing of ground-based objects. Spotting scopes are particularly useful for nature watching, or other types of observation. The eye relief is the required distance between your eye and the scope for an optimum sight picture. The Gold Ring spotting scopes are available in three sizes, each with different ranges of eye relief.

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust your scope to the highest magnification setting. At this setting, your eye relief is at the shortest distance possible.

    • 2

Observe your object through spotting scope to get a feel of the eye-relief position. You must have a completely round scope-picture.

    • 3

Reduce your scope's power setting, and adjust your eye for the increased eye-relief distance. The lowest setting permits maximum eye relief.
