How to Make a Red Dot Sight for a Tippmann 98

The Tippmann Model 98 is a semi-automatic paintball gun; it is equipped with picatinny rails to mount a red-dot scope or other accessories. Red-dot scopes are designed for close range shooting. The scope offers no magnification qualities, but provides the shooter with a red LED light similar to a laser beam; the beam is only viewable by looking through the scope. Red-dot scopes help a shooter quickly and accurately acquire the target.

     Loosen the mounting screws at the base of the scope rings on your red-dot scope; spread the mounting brackets. Do not completely unscrew the mounting screws.

     Place the mounting screws into the slots cut across the picatinny rails; position the mounting bracket over the sides of the rail mount.

     Tighten the mounting screws, securing the red-dot scope to the rail mount.
