How to Aim a Scope Mounted Laser

Adding a laser sight to your scope is an effective way to quickly acquire your target. Scope-mounted lasers are attached to the tube of your scope; scope tubes are available in sizes of 1 inch or 30 mm. The laser mount sets up your laser to send its beam parallel to the rifle scope; there is no adjustment to "sight in" your laser. Your laser provides you with a reference point for aiming your rifle.

Instructions

    • 1

Zero-in your rifle scope without using the laser. The reticles of your scope must be aligned with the rifle's point of impact.

    • 2

Setup a target at the distance of approximately 100 yards.

    • 3

Activate your laser, and aim your scope at your target. The scope's reticles must be directly centered on your target.

    • 4

Observe where the laser beam is striking the target, in relation to the scope's point of aim. If the beam is 1 inch above and 1 inch to the right of the projected point of impact, then this is your aiming reference point. Using this example -- if you are aiming solely using your laser sight -- place the beam slightly above and to the right of the intended impact point.
