How to Sight in an Aimpoint

Aimpoint scopes provide you with a red LED light that is only visible when looking through the scope, which indicates your point of aim. The LED light is similar in appearance to a laser beam; however, unlike a laser beam, the LED light will function effectively in brightly lit conditions. Aimpoint scopes can be used on rifles, shotguns or handguns and will help you to quickly acquire your target. Aimpoint scopes are powered by lithium batteries that are located within the light intensity control.

Instructions

    • 1

Prepare a target at a distance of approximately 100 yards, if you're sighting in your scope on a rifle; set up a target at a distance of 50 yards if your scope is on a shotgun or handgun.

    • 2

Turn on your Aimpoint scope by rotating the light intensity dial, located on the right side of the scope, to any position except zero (which is the off position). The higher the number, the greater the intensity of the red LED light.

    • 3

Install your laser boresighter into the end of your barrel and turn it on. Aim at your target and observe were the laser beam is on your target in relation to your scope's LED light. The laser beam represents the point of impact and the LED light your point of aim; to have your scope sighted in, the two points must be aligned.

    • 4

Adjust the windage and elevation dials, located on the top and right hand sides of your scope, to align your LED light with the laser beam. Turn the elevation adjustment dial, on top of the scope, clockwise for down or counterclockwise for up. Turn the windage adjustment dial, on the right side of the scope, clockwise for left or counterclockwise for right.

    • 5

Turn off and remove your laser boresighter. Turn off your Aimpoint scope.
