How to Polish the Glock Trigger

Disassemble your pistol completely according to the manufacturer's instructions and set the firing pin safety, trigger bar, firing pin, Glock connector and sear aside for polishing. Consult an exploded diagram (see Resources) for a complete parts list.

Sand off any rough spots on the parts you have set aside using the 2000 grit sandpaper with a flat piece of metal against it so that the sandpaper is flat. It's essential to maintain the geometry of the parts. You're only taking off any rough edges and spots on the metal. It's equally important to avoid rounding off the sharp edges of the parts, especially the sear and the firing spring catch.

Using light pressure, polish the firing pin safety with a Dremel tool on its slowest setting. Hold the firing pin safety from one end, apply the steel polishing compound and slowly roll it along the buffing wheel, applying the compound on the other side. Apply the polishing compound to the head of the firing pin safety and polish it in three directions, making it nearly reflective. Make sure that you avoid rounding off any sharp edges.

Polish the ramp on the trigger bar that contacts the firing pin safety until it shines, and then polish the end of the trigger bar that operates the disconnector, using strokes that run in the same direction. Polish the sear in the same manner. It's essential that you avoid rounding off any edges as a rounded edge on a sear can cause the pistol to fire out of control.

Polish the outside of the Glock connector, focusing on the engagement bar. This portion of the part is especially important and you must keep the engagement surfaces consistently sharp and even.

Reassemble the firearm and lubricate the parts with a combination lubricant and cleaner. Test fire the pistol with an empty chamber, to make sure that the trigger and the firing pin engage, and to verify that the trigger pull is smooth. If the pull is not as smooth as desired, check the parts again for rough edges.
