How to Mount a Top Mount Scope Base

You can mount a scope to your rifle or shotgun by first installing a top mounted rail scope base. Rail mounts allow you to quickly attach or remove scopes or other accessories, such as lasers or flashlights, on your weapon. Attaching a rail mount requires no special tools, apart from a small screwdriver. Before attaching a rail mount to your rifle or shotgun, make absolutely sure that the weapon is unloaded.

  Clean off the surface of your rifle and the bottom of your scope mounting base. Cleaning up the surfaces ensures that no dirt or debris interferes with the mounting.

  Remove the plug screws from the top of your gun; the screws are typically located on the receiver above the action.

  Place your mounting base on your gun with the base's screw holes aligned with the holes on the gun's surface. Use the screws that were supplied with the mount and screw the mount onto your firearm.
