Simmons Scope Instructions

Simmons scopes are simple to use and can dramatically improve your accuracy. Simmons scopes are available as both fixed and variable power scopes. A fixed power scope is preset to a specific magnification and the variable power scope gives you a range of different magnification settings. The Simmons long range models are adjustable for parallax error. Parallax error is an optical illusion of false target movement often encountered when viewing a distant target at a high magnifications setting.

Zero in your scope with the elevation adjustment dial located on the top of the scope and the windage adjustment dial located on the right side of the scope. The dials move the crosshairs of the scope so that you may align the center of the scope with the bullet's projected point-of-impact. Check the top of the dial for the scope's adjustment per click; type "C" Simmons scopes are calibrated to move the crosshairs ¼ inch at a range of 100 yards and type "D" scopes are calibrated to move 1/2 an inch at 100 yards. Rotating the top dial moves the crosshairs vertically and the right dial moves them horizontally.

Set your scope to your desired magnification with a variable power ring located in front of the eyepiece. After you set the magnification, lock it into position by turning the locking ring located right behind the power ring.

Set your parallax error adjustment to the range of your target (if your scope is so equipped). The Pro Target, Predator Quest and .44 MAG models feature a parallax error adjustment dial on the left side of the scope, adjacent to the crosshair adjustment dials; the ProSport models adjust by turning the objective bell located at the far end of the scope.
