Things You'll Need
Instructions
Point your rifle in a safe direction. Remove the magazine and check the action to make sure the weapon is unloaded. After you have checked your rifle, disassemble it.
Attach your wire brush to the end of your cleaning rod, apply gun cleaning solvent to the brush and insert the brush down the barrel. Scrub the interior of the barrel by passing the brush completely through the barrel several times. After you have scrubbed the interior of the barrel, remove the brush from the end of the cleaning rod.
Put a clean patch on the end of your cleaning rod and pass it through the barrel. Remove the soiled patch, replace it with a clean one and pass it through the barrel; continue until the patch comes out clean.
Clean the rifle's parts and surfaces with gun cleaning solvent and your toothbrush. After you have thoroughly cleaned the parts, use a clean rag to wipe off any grime and excess solvent.
Pass a clean patch treated with a small amount of gun oil through the barrel. Apply a light coat of gun oil to all of the parts and surfaces. Reassemble your rifle and wipe off any excess oil.
