How to Find out How Old a Parker Bros Shotgun Is?

Charles Parker founded his gun company in 1865. Parker guns were renowned for their craftsmanship and classic feel for almost a century. In the late 1940s, Parker was absorbed by Remington, but Parker firearms remain a prominent figure in the world of gun collectors.

Instructions

    • 1

Locate the serial number on your Parker Brothers shotgun. It may be located on the outside of the trigger guard extension, the inside of the reverse side of the fore-end rib, the left side of the locking lug or the left side of the receiver water table. The lug protrudes from the left side of the gun when the action is open. The water table is the section of the gun's frame which is covered by the barrel when a break-open action is closed.

Submit the serial number to The Parker Gun Collectors Association along with a research letter request. The association made copies of the detailed Parker factory records in 1998. The serial number identifies each gun in these records.

    • 3

Determine the gun's age based on the research letter. The letter should contain the technical specifications of the gun, as well as the dates the gun was ordered and shipped from the factory. The Parker Gun Collectors Association has an extensive record of Parker guns and is the most reliable source for information on your firearm.
