How to Modify Fobus Holsters

Forbus holsters are constructed of polymer plastic for specific models of handguns, ensuring a near-perfect fit. The holsters feature a passive retention system that keeps contact between the pistol and holster at a minimum, thereby allowing a faster draw. To successfully draw the pistol, you must pull it straight up from the holster. Forbus holsters are typically ready for duty right out of the box, but some owners make slight modifications.

Instructions

    • 1

Adjust the cant -- or angle -- of your handgun position. Place your unloaded handgun in the holster. Use your Phillips screwdriver to loosen the retention screw located on the outer surface of the paddle. Loosen the screw just enough to rotate the body of the holster.

    • 2

Strap the holster in the location where you plan to wear it; rotate the pistol housing until it feels comfortable. This allows you to pull the weapon straight out of the holster. Keep the holster in that position, remove it from your person and tighten the retention screw.

    • 3

Break in the holster by putting it on and drawing your weapon in a quick movement. Forbus recommends practicing between 25 and 50 times daily until you're comfortable with the procedure. If your holster is tight, place a small amount of gun oil on the inner surface. If your holster reamins too tight, modify it manually. Spread the trigger guard until you are comfortable with the holster's hold on your pistol.
