How to Tear Down a Kel-Tec PF-9 for Cleaning

The Kel-Tec PF-9 is one of the smallest and flattest 9 mm handguns available. Released in 2006, the handgun became widely accepted by people holding concealed handgun licenses; it is also a favorite of law enforcement officers who want a light but powerful backup weapon. The PF-9, like all Kel-Tec firearms, is designed for easy take-down and reassembly.

Instructions

    • 1

Read and throughly understand the Kel-Tec PF-9 manual.

    • 2

Remove the magazine from the PF-9, and check the chamber to ensure there are no cartridges left behind.

    • 3

Move the slide all the way to the rear; lock it back with the slide stop.

    • 4

Use a small, thin screwdriver to remove the assembly pin from the left side of the pistol.

    • 5

Move the slide forward -- and off the pistol -- after releasing the slide stop.

    • 6

Reach into the pistol frame, and take out the recoil spring and barrel.

    • 7

Remove the guide rod from the recoil spring to complete the tear-down.
