How to Use Wire Cutter Sheath for East German Bayonet

The East German bayonets are designed for use with AK-47 rifles. The bayonets are shaped like "bowie" knifes with a curved blade at the front of the bayonet on the top side of the bayonet. The bayonets are also designed to double as wire cutters. The handle of the bayonet and the sheath are both made of synthetic plastic, which do not conduct electricity, allowing the user to cut electrified wires. There is a notch at the end of the sheath designed to cut wire in conjunction with the bayonet.

Instructions

    • 1

Align the rectangular hole milled into the blade of the bayonet with the compatible rectangular attachment on the side of the sheath.

    • 2

Slide the sheath attachment through the blade's hole, so that the upper side of the blade is facing the cutting notch. When connected, this intersection acts as a hinge for the wire cutters.

    • 3

Place the wire, which you desire to cut, into the notch at the end of the sheath and squeeze the bayonet and sheath together (like a pair of pliers), the blade will shear the wire in half.
