Things You'll Need
Instructions
Locate the spot on the side of the bed that is most convenient for you to reach for a firearm with your primary hand. Ideally, the location will not reveal an attached holster to any passerby.
Lay out your leather, smooth side up, on the cutting surface and place the handgun on top of it, muzzle pointing north and the trigger guard to the left. Draw a rough outline of the gun, leaving about 2 inches of margin on the left side. Flip the gun on the leather so that it faces the other way and draw in the right side, with the same two-inch margin. You should have both sides of the handgun drawn on the leather when finished.
Cut around the outline of the gun and set aside the rest.
Lay the gun back onto the leather and fold the leather over from the trigger side to the top side, making a sheath for the gun. Draw the edges tightly and press down on the leather until the gun fits snugly, but isn't overly tight.
Open it back up, apply leather glue to the edges, and seal the sheath along the seam. Let the glue dry and bond.
Mark the excess material along the seam with a marking pen and then trim it away. Leave enough material to cover the muzzle hole, and ensure that end is glued together. This prevents dust from entering the muzzle.
Trim away the excess material covering the gun's grip, ensuring that you leave sufficient leather to cover the trigger guard.
Attach the holster securely to your bedside depending upon the type of bed you have. Simple slits in the side of the leather holster closest to the bed frame allows thin pieces of leather to slide into the holster and tie it to a frame.
