How to Mount Millett Weaver-Style Scope Rings

Millett Weaver-style scope rings are designed to be attached to a Weaver-style rail scope-mount. Rail-mount systems are typically found on military-type weapons, but are also quite common among more traditional sporting rifles. The advantage of Weaver-style scope mounts is the ease with which you can add or remove the scope from your rifle. Installing Millett Weaver-style scope rings requires an Allen wrench, which is supplied with the rings.

Instructions

    • 1

Loosen the mounting screws -- located at the bottom of the rings -- with the Allen wrench. Spread the mounting brackets, but do not remove the mounting screws. Align the screws with the slots cut across the base of the rail mount. Place the mounting brackets over the sides of the rail mount and tighten the screws.

    • 2

Remove the screws. Hold the rings together and take off the top halves of the rings. Place your scope onto the lower halves of the rings. Put the tops back on, and partially tighten the screws.

    • 3

Adjust the position of your scope to provide you with adequate eye relief, an acceptable sight picture and proper crosshair alignment. The crosshairs should appear directly vertical and horizontal when viewed through the scope. When your scope is properly positioned, finish tightening the screws.
