How to Modify Ten Round Glock Magazines

Glock pistols are lightweight and have a reputation for reliability. They feature lower receivers and magazines that are mostly constructed out of polymer plastic. The standard capacity on a double stacked magazine for a subcompact pistol is 10 rounds. Glock also produces 10-round magazines for its larger-size models for use in states with magazine capacity restrictions. Before you modify your 10-round magazine check your local laws to make sure it's legal. The capacity of your 10-round magazine can be increased with the addition of a magazine extension. An additional advantage of an extension is the increase of grip length, which, particularly on a subcompact pistol, can make the weapon easier to control.

Instructions

    • 1

Check that your Glock pistol is unloaded, and remove the magazine.

    • 2

Turn your magazine over and insert your screwdriver into the hole located on the bottom of the magazine's floor plate. Press your screwdriver down until you feel the floor plate release; you also will hear a distinct "click," and the plate will move forward slightly.

    • 3

Place your thumb over the floor plate, to keep the magazine spring from escaping, and slide off the plate.

    • 4

Put the extension's internal component (the extension consists of two parts) on top of the spring (wide end forward), and press it down below the magazine edges.

    • 5

Slide your magazine extension onto the bottom of the magazine, replacing the floor plate. The piece will lock into position.
