How to Adjust a Remington Trigger

The Model 700 is Remington's line of precision bolt-action rifle. The triggers on Remington Model 700 rifles feature the X-Mark Pro system, letting you adjust your trigger to your particular specifications. The X-Mark Pro system is adjustable by manipulating the setscrew located on the inside surface of the trigger. The setscrew is adjusted by using a hex key that is included with the rifle. Before you adjust your trigger, check to make sure that the rifle is unloaded.

Instructions

    • 1

Dry fire your rifle -- pulling the trigger while the rifle is unloaded -- to determine the trigger pull and whether you want to increase or decrease the trigger pressure.

    • 2

Locate the trigger-adjustment hex screw on the inside of the trigger near the top. Place your hex key into the adjustment screw.

    • 3

Decrease the amount of trigger pull by rotating the screw clockwise, or increase the trigger pull by rotating the screw counterclockwise.

    • 4

Remove the hex key and test the trigger pull by dry firing your rifle. Repeat the process to make any further adjustments.
