How to Install a Side Scope Mount on a Remington 870

The Remington 870 is a popular pump-action shotgun used by both sportsmen and law enforcement agencies worldwide. If you are considering putting a scope on your shotgun, you have the option of using a saddle, or side, scope mount. A side scope mount will provide you with a Weaver-style rail mount on the top of your shotgun; however, the mount itself is attached to the side. The rail mount system can be used to mount scopes, lasers or even flashlights. Before installing the mount, please make absolutely sure that your shotgun is unloaded.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove the trigger plate pins from the shotgun. These pins are located above the trigger housing. Use a pin punch (or similar device) to press them out of the receiver; do not remove the trigger assembly.

    • 2

Slide the saddle mount over the top of the receiver and line up the mounting holes with the holes for the trigger assembly.

    • 3

Place the retention screws (provided with the scope mount) through the shotgun, from the right hand side, and secure them with the provided nuts.
