Monogram
Consider a monogram for your handgun. You can use your full initials and perhaps have the engraver run them down the barrel side or on the handle. On older models, engrave initials, or even your full name, on the ridges of the bullet chamber.
Gun owners also may want a single letter engraved on their handgun, representing a first or last name. This looks better on the widest part of the handgun, usually the grip or the area between the barrel and hammer.
Hobbies
The limited blank space on a handgun still leaves room to tell a short story. Use your handgun to demonstrate your hobbies or passion in life. For example, if you are an avid hunter or motorcyclist, ask the engraver to translate your hobby onto your gun. Hunters could depict the forest or typical animal trophies. Motorcyclists could get engravings of their favorite bikes or the open road, for example.
Heritage
Celebrate your heritage and culture through your engraved designs on your handgun. Ask the engraver to include an outline of your country's flag or a notable landmark, such as the Great Wall of China or the Eiffel Tower. You can also personalize your heritage by having an engraving done that depicts aspects of your culture that make you proud. This may be a food, a historical event or even an attitude.
Political Message
Gun ownership in the United States remains a controversial issue. Consider showing support for gun rights by engraving a political message on your handgun. For example, you can ask the engraver to scribe the second amendment to the U.S. Constitution, "The right of the people to keep and bear arms shall not be infringed," on your gun -- probably along the barrel, where there is the largest amount of straight, open space.
