How to Install the Rings on a Mossberg ATR 30-06 With a Scope

The Mossberg ATR is a bolt action rifle available in four popular calibers, including the 30-06. The rifle features a synthetic stock, a free-floating barrel and it is capable of holding five bullets (one in the chamber and four in the magazine). Mossberg designed this rifle with weaver-style rail mounts preinstalled on top of the action. These mounts make attaching a scope equipped with weaver-style scope rings a simple process. The necessary tools, commonly an Allen wrench, typically come with the scope rings.

Instructions

    • 1

Unscrew the retention screws on the top of your scope rings and remove the tops of your rings. Place your scope on the rings and screw the top halves back, but do not completely tighten them.

    • 2

Loosen the mounting screws at the base of the rings and spread the mounting brackets. Place the rings on the mounts with the mounting brackets covering the sides of the mounts. Tighten the mounting screws.

    • 3

Position your scope to give you sufficient eye relief and a clear sight picture; The crosshairs must appear directly vertical and horizontal. When you position the scope properly, finish tightening the ring retention screws.
