How to Mount a Scope to a Taurus B17

Taurus "Tracker" model 17 revolvers are compact-frame handguns suitable for target practice and small- game hunting. These revolvers have a cylinder capacity of seven .17 HMR bullets. These bullets are small, lightweight and generally inexpensive. You can increase the accuracy of your tracker revolver by mounting a scope to the top of your handgun. Mounting a scope base to your revolver is a straightforward process; however, hire a qualified gunsmith to drill the screw holes and to space them into the top strap of the weapon. This is not something you can do at home with a hand drill.

Instructions

    • 1

Have a gunsmith remove the rear sight from your revolver and drill/tap two 6-40 screw holes into the top of your revolver with the holes spaced specifically for your sight mount.

    • 2

Place the back of the sight mount onto the rear sight and line up the mount screw holes with the ones on the revolver. Use the provided screws to secure the mount into position.

    • 3

Open the retention screws on the bottom of the scope rings, allowing you to widen the mounting bracket. Do not remove the screws. Place the scope on top of the mount with the sides of the mounting bracket over the edges of the mount. Tighten the retention screws, securing the scope to the mount.
