How to Clean Rubber Gun Grips

Having a good grip on your gun is necessary when firing. Dangerous circumstances could ensue if the gun were to slip from your hands. It is important to always keep your gun's rubber grip free of any residue, as this too could impede your shooting ability. Removing any dirt or residue from your weapon's rubber grip requires just a few items, and can be done in a matter of minutes.

Instructions

    • 1

Remove any rounds from the chamber and remove the clip before attempting to clean the grips on your weapon. Make sure that the safety mechanism is turned on before continuing.

    • 2

Use a screwdriver to remove the rubber grips from your gun. Some rubber grips are held on by either screws or clips, making the screwdriver unnecessary.

    • 3

Place rubber grips on a towel. Combine a mild soap and water in a small container.

    • 4

Dip a small washcloth completely into the mixture to saturate it with soap and water. Wipe the grips down with the soapy cloth, and scrub away any sticky residue you may find. Rinse away any soap on the grips once you're done wiping them down.

    • 5

Set the grips aside to dry, and replace them on your weapon once you've made certain that they're no longer wet.
