Mossberg 472 Specifications

The Mossberg 472 is a type of rifle manufactured for only 10 years, from 1972 to 1982. This rifle is a combination of the classic Winchester rifle, the Marlin 336 and the older Mossberg 440. The Mossberg 472 is a multi-use rifle; for example, it can be used for ground or air hunting. This rifle has a curved butt and short magazine, making it easy to handle.
  1. Barrel Length

    • The barrel length for the Mossberg 472 is 24 inches. This length for a rifle is on the short-end for a rifle shooting into the air, either at live prey or at clay pigeons. The 24-inch barrel works well for ground prey, however.

    Lever Action

    • The Mossberg 472 rifle has a short magazine and can hold six rounds. The Lever Action 464 system has a side-eject system. The loading port for the gun is on the right-hand side of the rifle. The user will be able to load a single cartridge into the port, and the case will eject from the same location.

    Adjustable Rear Sight

    • The rear sight for the Mossberg 472 allows for the hunter to alter the height for the shot. The rear sight is located about halfway between the butt of the gun and the end of the barrel. By loosening the screw in the sight plate, the hunter can adjust the sight.
