Size
The barrel of the pistol is 2 2/3 inches long. The base weight of the gun is 18 ¾ ounces. The gun has a five-round capacity magazine allowing for five shots before reloading. The Mustang was produced in 1986 as a slightly lighter model than the government's version. The gun is no longer produced but can be found through gun dealers and at gun shows.
Spring Action
The Mustang does not have a barrel bushing or spring plug like the .380's before it. The spring system was also updated to have a recoil spring instead of the single coil spring. This allowed for the gun to incorporate the synthetic spring guide in a hole on the slide face.
Mustang II
In 1988 a new version of the Mustang came out as the Mustang II. This expanded the shot capacity of the gun to seven as the slide was made to mimic the former government model. The longer frame allows for the larger magazine.
Single Action
The gun requires the user to cock the hammer before shooting which makes it a single action pistol. You can then shoot one bullet before you must reset the gun by cocking the hammer again. The Mustang does not have a trigger safety on the back of the grip as it was originally produced. Though in order to comply with current safety recommendations, a safety can be added to the trigger after market.
