How to Mount a Sniper Scope AR 15

Adding a sniper-style scope to an AR-15 semi-automatic rifle should help your accuracy at the gun range, especially if you are an accomplished shooter through the gun sights. When you are choosing a scope, remember that a 4x to 6x magnification scope should be all you need. Do not be enticed by the extreme magnification of a 10x scope, which will greatly reduce your field of view. A correctly mounted 4x or 6x scope is easy to achieve and opens the door for myriad new shooting challenges.

Instructions

  1. Attaching the Scope Mount

    • 1

Use an appropriate-sized hex key to remove the nut threaded to the bolt that runs through the hole on the lower part of the scope mount.

    • 2

Insert the bolt into the hole found in the center of the AR-15's carry handle, ensuring that the top of the mount is parallel to the gun barrel.

    • 3

Thread the nut from the scope mount back onto its bolt and tighten it so the mount is snug.

    Mounting the Sniper Scope

    • 4

Open the integral rings of the scope mount using an appropriate-sized hex key.

    • 5

Place the sniper scope into the grooves of the bottom halves of the integral rings and position it toward the front or back of the gun to suit your style.

    • 6

Place the top halves of the scope mount's integral rings over their lower halves, then tighten them with the hex key.
