How to Fix Night Sights on a Beretta 96 Centurion

The Beretta 96 Centurion is a full size pistol chambered for .40 caliber ammunition. The effectiveness of the Beretta 96 in low light situations can be enhanced by using night sights. Night sights operate because of a luminous low grade radioactive material that glows in the dark which is applied to the front and the rear sights. Once the luminous properties of night sights have faded to the point that they are no longer effective, they must be replaced. Before replacing the sights, make sure that your pistol is unloaded and disassemble. The only part you will need is the slide; separate it from the rest of the parts.

Things You'll Need

Instructions

    • 1

Turn the slide over and unscrew the front sight retention screw with the wrench included with your new night sights. Remove the front sight.

    • 2

Place the replacement night sight into position and secure with the retention screw on the bottom of the new sight, take care not to over tighten the screw.

    • 3

Adjust your rear sight adjustment tool so the sight carrier (the part that moves the rear sight) is positioned over the slot that holds the slide. The carrier is moved by the drive screw.

    • 4

Place the end of the slide into the rear sight adjustment tool so the existing rear is held by the sight carrier.

    • 5

Use the drive screw to push the sight left, until the sight clears the slide.

    • 6

Remove the old sight from your sight adjustment tool and replace it with your new sight.

    • 7

Use the drive screw to push the new sight into position.

    • 8

Remove the slide from the tool and reassemble your pistol.
