How to Remove Finger Grooves From a Glock

Glock handguns feature grips which are made almost entirely of a polymer plastic. Earlier models of the pistols had grips without grooves for the shooter's fingers; the latest generation has finger grooves molded into the design of the grip. These grooves can be removed, without the assistance of a gunsmith, using a handheld rotary tool and fine sandpaper. When removing these grooves it is helpful to have a steady hand and an eye for detail.

Before handling your pistol, check to make sure that it is unloaded.

Instructions

    • 1

Disassemble your pistol and remove the grip from the rest of the pieces.

    • 2

Prepare your rotary tool with a small grinding wheel and put on your safety glasses.

    • 3

Turn on your rotary tool and carefully begin to grind the finger grooves off the grip. Grind them down in small increments, taking care not to gouge holes in your grip. Once you have sufficiently ground down the finger grooves, turn off your rotary tool and smooth out the surface with your sandpaper.
